How did you get accepted into Brown University?

How difficult is it to get accepted to the University of Ottawa?

  • I will be entering grade 12 in September; it is time to start thinking about what universities to apply to. I am strongly thinking about applying to the University of Ottawa; I am interested in pursuing political science, wanting my undergraduate degree in that. My grades throughout high school have been decent. I am a well rounded person and a hard worker. Anyway, my question is how difficult is it to get accepted to the University of Ottawa? Remember I am looking into Political science, not a medical field etc. Thank you, not sure I will get any answers but it is worth a try!

I went through all of this as well, so I'd be glad to give you some pointers! I got into all the Canadian Uni's I applied to for Commerce (UBC, Toronto, Queen's, McGill, Ottawa, Western, HEC Montreal), with an average in the mid-90s for my classes. Have you checked admission requirements online? They vary by province, and I'm not sure where you're from, but as long as you take all the required courses, you should be fine! Aim for the 80s, and you'll probably get a scholarship. Also, what was helpful was reading forums, such as studentawards forums, to really get the inside scoop on various schools and their programs. Also, if you're looking for schools in that area, Carleton also has a good PoliSci program, check it out. You still have time to decide, so review your grade 12 courses and make changes as necessary. Anyways, I was always so determined to get into University with stellar marks, and worked very hard throughout all of high school to basically be top of my class. In the end, I think that you should push yourself in high school to get the best marks possible, because this will prepare you for Uni...it is so much more challenging, with courses, adjusting to that lifestyle, meeting new people, determining which extracurriculars to be involved in...so be prepared to stay strong and work very diligently. It's a life skill that won't let you down :) Good luck with your year and applications!
