basically this boils down to where you WANT to go. if you have the money, its no obstacle. if you don...cc might be better. however. every state has a university...and if you choose to go to the one in your state there is a cheaper tuition. i suggest looking into as many schools as possible with thinks that you are interested in, do research on all of them, and pick your favorites. personally, all i knew when i started my school search was it had to be an art school - im so fed up with formal education. i based my search off that, and now im in one of the best art schools in the country. i cant really afford it, so may not be able to stay...but thats what financial aide is for :) good luck with your search, and enjoy your sr year!

Community college degrees are not taken very seriously by many employers. That's because the academic standards in community colleges are much lower. I would suggest that you consider that you are investing a valuable period of time in your life to get an education. The choice you make will affect your career options for the rest of your life. Why would you want to choose anything less than the very best you can for yourself? Try to get into the best university that you can afford and that you can get admitted to. It's okay to enter a university before you've decided on a major. You can take general classes the first year while undecided. After the first year, it becomes more important to choose a direction, but you may find that one year in college clarifies many things for you. If you do go to a university, though, I think you should be serious about studying. If you're not serious, I still wonder if community college is a good option. Maybe try working during the summer after you graduate from college, and see if that helps you clarify your priorities. Sometimes seeing what types of jobs are open to you if you only have a high-school diploma can really help to motivate you to work for a college degree. If you're going to be a senior this fall, then you still have some time to think about things. It's hard for many high school students to understand how important career choices are. Look at the adults around you, and think about how their choice of education affected what type of job they have now, and whether they are earning enough money to live comfortably. What about your parents - did they go to a university? Would you want their lifestyle? If nobody in your family has gone to a university, then maybe you could talk to your school's counselor to get more comfortable with the idea.

I would only recommend a university if you are very certain you know what major you want, you can get into a school with a good reputation in that major, and money is not a problem. The smartest thing financially is to choose a CC where all of your credits will transfer to the university of your choice later. That way, if you change majors once or twice you keep your costs way down. Good luck.

Well as i have been told by friends (10th grade) and teachers that a community college is mainly for people who want to raise their GPA so like if they got C's through high school they could have a better chance of going to a nice university by doing better in a community college. but seeing as your grades are really good, i recommend going straight to university

I did not go to a big university but i went to a small college called Tri-Sate College..but now it is a University in Angola, Indiana. It was only 120 miles from my home and two hours by car. It was a good school as the college was small and the town was small to but very friendly. I had a lot of fun going to a small college as you can be a big fish in a small pond. Better then a small fish in a big pond? The small college is cheaper and you still have a lot of activities and sports if you want them. But community college is cheaper if you stay at home and don't have to commute very far..
