When should I start the University transfer application process while in Community College?

  • I've been in Community College for almost 2 years. This is my 4th semester. I might be in CC for another year to finish my stuff. I'm already in the process of taking the classes I need to transfer to a 4 year school. Question is: when should I start applying for other schools? I do plan on talking to a counselor. But I'd to hear from you guys. When did you start getting ready for all this? VIVA LA RAZA!

    I have transferred from CC to University. My advice, contact the admissions department at the Universities you are looking to transfer to and verify the courses that are needed to be completed, what courses will transfer and ask for an admission packet. I prepared early for my transfer, and was glad that I did. CC did not properly prepare me for courses needed at University and ended up having to take two extra semesters to catch up. Good luck!

I haven't done the process, but if you plan to go to X university, look on their website under the admissions section. I think you apply like you would apply to any school. Like if you wanted to go to school for the Fall of '11, then you apply around October - November '10.
