What exactly does a corporate lawyer do?

What is the Path to Becoming a Corporate Lawyer?

  • So here's a little tidbit, right now I'm a Sophomore in high school. I've wanted to become a corporate lawyer since grade school. I consider myself to be a great public speaker and a great debater, but the problem is I'm not sure about the path to becoming a corporate lawyer. Here's what I do know so far. - Study Hard. - Get into a good undergraduate school. - Don't get a political science degree since they are worthless. - I've heard going into Accounting or Finance is good for Undergrad. - Do well on the LSAT. - Blah Blah Blah. - Study Hard. - Death. So here is my question. What is the path to becoming a corporate lawyer? I plan to go to a good university, but I'm not sure what major to take, or what type of university suits me. Please and thank you in advance.

  • Answer:

I have a friend who is a corporate lawyer in delaware working for a pretty large firm at which he had had an internship. his major in college actually was political science; and i'm almost positive he did not have a minor. he did a lot of extracurriculars, involved in school activities, had a few internships...then he took the LSAT and went into law school, and graduated two years ago. as for college choice, you should look at size, area, available majors, and GO VISIT. especially since you're only a sophomore, you have a lot of time. you might also find talking to an admissions counselor helpful as they'll be able to tell you what your options are.
