What is an LPN to BSN program?

LPN - (with BS and MA in another field) - What is the best way to get a BSN from here?

• Hi - I am currently enrolled in a fast-track (10 month) LPN program. I already have my BS and MA in another field.. I plan to get my BSN in Nursing, and would like to know the fastest way to go about this after receiving my LPN. (I already know that many people think the LPN is a step backwards for someone who already has a college degree. I have even heard this from my instructors. I feel that I need to justify my decision - for me it was the quick 10 months to the end goal - nursing. I would be able to work while pursuing my RN. Also, the cost of the program was affordable.) So, all that left aside.. what is the best next step? Also, I am in Massachusetts, so if anyone has any advice particularly relevant to Mass, that would be hugely helpful! Thanks!!

  Don't you hate feeling like you have to justify becoming a LPN. I understand your situation. Are there any fast track RN programs. I'm not familiar with the Mass area, but many programs offer a 14 month fast track program for those who already a Bachelors to become a BSN, but it requires alot and is like 40hrs a week. I must warn you to stay away from the College Network and Excelsior College, their LPN to RN, BSN program sounds really good but its really expensive and has some really bad reviews from people I know currently in it. Some universities offer LPN to BSN but it can be about 2-3 yrs long and if you have working experience they may let you challenge some of the beginning courses. The fastest way to a RN is probably the ADN which is another year. Then one more year after that for BSN. You would need to speak to each school you are interested in. GOOD LUCK
