What is life like at a big traditional college or university?

What's college/university life like at a CAMPUS?

• How should I convince my parents to let me stay at a campus when I get to university? Is it worth the extra funding? what are the ups and downs to it? thank you ! <3

  Ups: 1-You meet people really quickly. Dorms are almost like a mini family. There's tons of shenanigans going on, fun events to go to, and if you need to vent about classes or find a study buddy you just have to go next door. 2-Studies have shown that living on campus increasing your GPA, probably b/c you feel more attached to the school and you are closer to the library and other campus resources. 3-You save money on transportation b/c you are in walking distance of a library and your classes. 4-It's easy to meet up with other students for group work. 5-Dorms typically have meal plans, so you don't have to worry about cooking or washing dishes or going grocery shopping. (As a student living off campus, I can tell you that these things take a lot of time during the week.) Downs: 1-It's an extra expense if your parents live close enough to commute. 2-There's literally no space. You almost feel like you are living on top of each other if you are used to having your own room. Not a big problem if you have a lot of siblings or are used to sharing small spaces. 3-It can be very loud at times which can make it hard to focus if you prefer studying at home. But this can easily be fixed by some white noise, headphones, or going to the library. Heck, if your parents live close, you could even camp out there to study. (Maybe your mom will cook you dinner and do some laundry ;) ) If you can afford it, I believe it's worth it. However, the big goal of college is to get out without a huge amount of debt. You can always live in the dorms for your first year and then live off campus the rest after you've already made friends and got some good stories.
