What's a better choice IB or A/levels?

IB vs. A Levels; what's the best choice?

  • I'm currently in year 10 at an average high school in England, soon to be starting college preperation. I would like to pursue a career in medicine or mathematics. I can either do A levels at quite a good state college where I plan to do maths, further maths, biology and chemistry. Or I can do IB at not the best college where I would probably choose to do maths, biology and chemistry at higher level and english, french and history at standard level. I am predicted A* for all my GCSEs and find the sciences, history and french rather easy; so it's not a matter of being capable. In your opinion what would be the best choice for getting into a good university so I can pursue a career in medicine?

  • Answer:

It depends about you. If you are very organized, taking on challenges, hard-working, IB is for you. And is probably the better choice. With IB, you probably will get into a better university and since IB international, maybe evn outside England? However, if you aren't very good in school (but im sure you are) then IB isn't for you. It's better to do very well in a lower level than do do bad in a hgiher level, so if you can take on IB and get great marks, then IB is for you!
