  I am a former chef from Canada, and I have a number of UK chef friends I worked with internationally when in the Hotel business, unlike the US and Canada, there pay structure is based on experience and training plus Guild certifications, so restaurants pay less than Hotels, Resorts or Holiday camps and Pensions pay slightly more as they are seasonal, fast food is like the US. A Line cook/Chef du Partie will make 300-400 quid a week, a Sous chef 400-600 and a Head/Executive Chef even more, commis, demi chefs and prep chef will be the lowest of the chain/brigade.
