What to order at a Vietnamese restaurant?

When i go to a Vietnamese restaurant and order "to-go", am I suppose to still leave a tip at the counter?

  • So today, i order to-go, a rice plate at a Vietnamese restaurant, and the cashier gives the change to me on top of a money plate. The ones where they give you when you sit down and eat there.. So i was wondering if i was supose to still give tip even if i don't eat there?

    well, i'm not sure, but where i come from, you don't. we only tip when we're 'eating in' in big restaurants.

Yes, you should. They are still providing a service to you. You shouldn't leave 15-20% like you would if you had a server, but a few dollars would be appropriate. They still had to send the food to the kitchen, box it up, and bag it with all the condiments, etc. And most everyone in a restaurant makes 2.13 an hour (bussers, bartenders, servers, etc)

Regardless of the type of retaurant you should leave a tip. The tip is because the person got your order together, added napkins, forks and whatever. It can be the change you get back, or a dollar but you should leave something.

You can leave a buck or two. They are still providing you with a service so it certainly doesn't hurt. Occasionally, I get tips for taking care of my to go customers but I don't really expect them to.

I wouldn't. I don't think you are supposed to. They would like it I'm sure but I don't think it's like a known fact that you are supposed to.

No, they did not provide a tippable service to you therefor you need not worry about a tip.
