What does this smiley mean? :/ or :?

What does it mean when waitress leaves a smiley face AND gives an automatic discount on the check?

• I know that waitresses will write smiley faces on checks to get better tips but a recent visit to a brand new restaurant with a cute waitress yielded not only a smiley face but a discount on food and drink that I did not in any way ask for. Yes, we were pleasant with each other, but I didn't think anything of it until I got the check. Not complaining by any means, but curious if anyone knows what this means or if anyone's had this happen before?

  It appears she was plite with the smile face. As for the discount, possibly she discounted because she felt her service was not up to par or something - or possibly she liked you and wanted to flirt. I think though it had to do something with the service. Maybe she forgot to give you something. Servers cannot just give discoutns, they need them approved, and no this does not generally happen. it did to us when the server took too long and the manager noticed, one time....
