Where Is An Olive Garden In Ontario Canada?

Why are there no Olive Garden Restaurants in Ontario, I've heard something about a lawsuit by Campbell's Soup?

  • Olive Garden Restaurants were popular in Ontario 20 years ago and now you can't find one. I heard they had been sued by Campbell's Soup Company and forced to close down, but only in Ontario. There are still Olive Gardens in Western Canada and I'm not sure about Quebec and points East. Why did they close? It makes sense that they may close a few that weren't making money but not all of them. When I am in Buffalo, New York, I always drop in to the Olive Garden and it is always crowded.

    Alot had to o with that, leases on the properties, financial issues, like Outback Steakhouses, they are not free hold place, meaning they pay rent to a mall or plaza landlord, in the city my mother is from, they closed a Wendy's after 30 years the property it sits on is so valuable the owner had to close after his lease ran out. They do not have Harvey's or Kelsey in the US, very few Swiss Chalets too, it is economic really we have East Side Marios if you want to call them real Italian??

When Olive garden came to Canada, they had no clue as to the cost of operations in Canada, land, labour and food costs way above their projections (poor planning) TGIF lasted 13 monhts for the same reason Any Canadian company that goes to the U.S. does very well as they have a handle on cost control and costs are less in the U.S. Swiss/ Harvey's are not in the U.S. as Cara is not interested in expanding there. Kelsey's is not in the states due to an issue with the name already registered there by another company. East Side Mario's, although a Canadian company, was originally tested in Miami Florida, and there are 4 location in the U.S. two being in Michigan
