How do I get my paypal funds off hold?

Waitress screw up, my funds on hold. When do I get them back?

• Went to a restaurant Friday with friends and my original bill comes up to $12.10, as expected. Okay I give my debit card to the waitress with my ticket slip and she comes back with two slips (since she ran it as credit) with it saying $31.50. I bring this to her attention and give her back the slips and she apologizes and rings up my correct ticket, which I add tip and sign. I didn't sign the incorrect slip. Now I come home and I see that the $31.50 had been deducted from my account but is currently "PENDING". Anyone have this happen? & how long does it take before the funds are returned to the account?

  most restaurants run through POS systems. it is connected online to banks. if someone runs your card your bank statement for that "purchase" has a status of pending because it is left open in case you leave a tip. once it is finialized (closed) it should say something like debit transaction and list the address it was used on your statement. The waitress should have deleted the transaction. and she should have brought you the copy of the void recipt for your records. If it takes a long time for the company to delete the transaction it may say processed or PENDING. If that is the case then the bank is checking to see what is going on and making sure not to leave that money in your available balance so that you do not go into the negative. the money should be back into your account within 24-48 hours after the transaction. it depends on the type of bank you have. if your statement goes from pending or processing to debit transaction you need to A: call your bank and tell them what is going on and B: call the restaurant and explain the mistake i know youre probably pissed about it but just try to keep in mind that it was probably busy. waitressing is a little more stressful than some people think GOOD LUCK!
