What is THE best restaurant to eat at in Santa Monica?

  • So I want to treat my family for a fine-dining experience sometime in the near future... I live in Los Angeles, and all I know for sure is that I want to eat at a restaurant that will be extremely memorable. I have also pinpointed that I would like the restaurant to be in Santa Monica (I'm aiming for a lovely outdoor dinner right next to the ocean...). Basically, I need recommendations! On either a) how to find a great restaurant in general or b) a great restaurant in Santa Monica. Because this dinner is going to be for a special occasion, I can safely say that money will NOT be an issue here. I'm aiming for a white-tablecloth, luxurious dining experience, actually. So... anybody know any really amazing places to eat in Santa Monica? I want a restaurant that is an experience within itself! As in, the atmosphere and physical appearance of the place is appealing... Thanks in advanced. :)

    There are 2 good restaurants at the Santa Monica pier, I can't recall their names but one is at the beginning and the other at the end, both with good views of the ocean.
