Who exactly goes to a restaurant to eat breakfast?

• On Masterchef on tv they have been doing breakfast service, but who on earth would actually go to a restaurant and pay for breakfast? surely everyone is in too much of a rush in the morning and its so expensive

  Big time commuters. Weekends are easy...people have time. The weekdays are different. When I was working in downtown Chicago, I had an hour train commute and the schedule of the train would get me there just short of an hour before the old whistle blew. Many business people love this time to read the paper and eat the specials (usually 2 eggs, a meat, and toast). Danish and coffee were also big sellers. The major commuter cities have great places to get a fast, sit-down breakfast in their business districts. These places specialize in short-order cooking and the customer turn-over is pretty quick so there is rarely a wait. I would try to do this at least twice a week. A moderate-sized breakfast went a long way when meetings were planned. Also, these places try to attract customers during the week with great specials. Even calorie-king IHOP has a weekday special of 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and pancakes for 4.99 in my city of Charlotte, NC. My choice is to still try a Mom & Pop joint. They are usually cheaper with large servings.
