How far is Avignon from Nice?

I've just got back from Avignon. French food dead-no way?

  • 4 days in Avignon. Croissants for breakfast - beats muesli every way. Everybody taking lunch breaks and eating cooked food, not grabbit and run sandwiches at the desk. Wine at lunchtime? I'd be sacked if I had a lager! The pastries, in particular, were magnifique. As for fast food "Le McDonalds-c'est merde" Comments, please?

  • Answer:

I totally agree! Food in France is wonderful. I do not think half an hour for lunch is enough here either.Other European countries take at least an hour to socialise, and enjoy a glass of wine with a meal, and I think if we had more relaxed opinions on the odd drink at lunchtime, our country wouldn't have such a big drink problem at night times and weekends, after all the French, and Spanish do not have a problem with it.

THAT'S why it takes the French so long to do anything all the long liquid lunches.

I find that in France the propensity that they have for using tinned vegetables, and not many of them either, vaguely annoying. You are right though the meat and other dishes are so nice.
