Would a restaurant refuse to serve us?

  • A family member and I want to go out to eat some time, just by ourself. We're 14 years old. A restaurant has to serve us, right? As long as we have our money and everything? And we're not rowdy or anything. Plus, its not a fancy place, but it is a restaurant. I can't see why not, just want to make sure. Thanks! And good restaurant ideas? We live in NYC. We were thinking something like Friendlys or Pizzeria Unos.

A restaurant doesn't have to serve someone. They have a right to refuse to serve anyone at anytime. Yes, you can go out to eat by yourself at age 14. There shouldn't be any problem.

Technically, restaurants are private property, and as such, they do have the right to refuse service, but cannot do so on the basis of race, religion, gender, etc. Other than by virtue of your conduct/behaviour presenting a potential issue/liability to other customers, likely there would not be an issue.

lol ever heard the saying money talks? yes you can be served. they may be a little worried about you paying the bill but they shouldn't say anything. money is money wherever is comes from. you should be fine. don't worry have fun!!!
