Where can I buy shabu shabu beef in Virginia?

I'm not sure if the problem is that what you're finding isn't sliced thinly enough or what. I can often find the virtually see-through sliced beef in the markdown section out of Gourmet Meats in both of my local Giant Food stores (Manassas) as well as my local Shopper's Food Warehouse. We have a high Spanish-speaking population here and it's used a lot here for latino dishes. If you can't find the right cut at the right thickness (thin-ness?) then just choose the cut you want, hand it to the meat counter guys at any Giant Food and ask them to slice it for you, paper thin... see thru... thank you very much. All Giant Foods still have full service meat counters and they'll cut/re-cut any piece of meat at no charge. Sorry... almost forgot... taro... yes, I used to sell that at Giant too. I'm not positive they still have it there, but I know the Shopper's Food Warehouse does. I'm assuming you're talking about taro root... and there should be chunks of it in produce, Asian specialty area, ask the Produce manager if you can't find it.
