Food ideas for the camping trip?

I am going on a camping trip and need some ideas of what food should i fix. will only have a grill and skillet

  • electric skillet

  • Answer:

Pancakes work well on an electric skillet. You can also do grilled sandwiches (cheese, cheese with ham, etc.), fried cornbread, etc. On the grill you can make hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst - all the meat stuff - but you can also wrap any vegetable in foil with a bit of water and/or butter; vegetables steam well on the grill. Also take something to clean your dishes in - a large plastic bin or something similar - and something to heat water in, like an electric teakettle. Even if you're going to use paper plates to eat from, you'll still have to clean your cooking utensils...especially if you're going to use them to cook meat. Have a good camping trip. Personally, I can't stand camping, but I have many years of experience - now that I'm an adult I've given it up. :)

easy items, hamburgers and hotdogs of course. you can throw some corn on the cob, on the grill, and some potatoes too. breakfast, eggs, and bacon (turkey of course :-), assuming that you have some place to keep your food cold. you can pretty much cook up anything on an electric skillet. so, knock yourself out, and take steak, chicken, and what ever else you desire. if you are going to have electricity, then why fret?

Well, you can always pre-wrap some cooked corn on the cobb, buttered and seasoned, in in tin foil. Also Baked potatoes. This way they are already cooked and all you need to do is throw them on the grill and close it, like an oven. I've taken boiled eggs, sandwitch meat, hot dogs, hamburger meat pre-pattied, and the kabobs are a good idea as well. Just make them b-4 you go and wrap them in foil. Make sure whatever it is, you pack it tightly in ziplock bags then put that bag in another in case you are near water or it rains. Soggy bread or watered down condiments bite. It really all depends on how long you are going for and what kind of container are you going to have it it (ice chest?). Hope this helped a bit!!!

Omelets. These are great for one pan cooking. Omelets are versatile and healthy and a hearty food to get you through hiking. Yummmy. I do recommend buying a mountain pie maker , and making mountain pie pizzas. All you need is a good roaring fire, 2 slices of bread (buttered on the outside of the bread so they dont stick to the mountain pie maker-this also helps the bread to get a little crispy) about a teaspoon of sauce, cheese, and maybe some pepperoni. Cook over your fire and you have yourself a pizza. Have fun

Brats, dogs, burgers for the grill. Save the skillet for morning bacon & eggs.
