Where are the cheapest places to eat in Seattle that have good food (cheap and good restaurants?)?
-
Some friends and I are planning a trip to Seattle and are on a pretty tight budget. We want to be able to eat good food, but are pretty short on cash. Where are the best places to eat that are somewhat cheap?

Answer:
Here are a few recs: -Breakfast--stay around Pike Place: Our Daily Dozen (donuts), fresh baked bread and fruit (market stands), and pastries -Lunch: Baguette Box in Capitol Hill...yummy, yummy, cheap sandwiches and truffle fries. Also recommend the Pike Place market eats again especially the piroshki. Also Unicorn Crepes in the International District. Still in the mood for Crepes but downtown? Then head over to the crepe stand outside the Convention Center. -Snack: Must have the amazing gelato at bottega italiana located on first ave next to Pike Place. I recommend getting a gelato and walking to the waterfront to walk through the Olympic Sculpture park (free!) with an amazing view of the water and mountains. -Dinner: Hit up happy hours in the early evening or late evening (after 9?). The most filling is McCormick and Schmick's with full sized burgers and fries for $1.95. Also, Dragonfish is a great deal during happy hour. Have a great time!

Cheap good "greasy spoon" fare restaurants in Seattle: The 5-Point Cafe is on the corner of 5th & Cedar, a block from the Space Needle. The Hurricane Cafe is on 7th, a block from the Pink Elephant Car Wash. Beth's Cafe is on Aurora, just north of the Aurora Bridge. All have meals for under $10 that will give you a lot of food that's pretty good (if you like the greasy spoon sort of diner food experience) and a lot of food. The 5-Point and Beth's were also both featured on some shows on the Food Network, I'm told (I don't have cable). Ivar's has good fish and chips as well as great clam chowder! It's cheap and right on the waterfront at the piers near Pike Place Market and also one near Gasworks Park by the University of Washington. Pho Than Brothers: If you like Pho (I love it!), this local chain has a number of locations in Seattle and the bowls are huge, the Pho is delish, and you get a cream puff as well! You can eat a large at the University District location, a block away from UW for $5! There's multiple locations.

May I suggest Panara Bread? Fresh food and excellent jazz music all at the price of your regular fast food.

Check out eatingseattle.com. Good site with local info. Personally, I love Mexican. Rancho Bravo tacos is the best!
