What is an Olive Garden interview like?

My third interview for Olive Garden is on Monday...?

• So my third interview at Olive Garden is Monday and I'm anxious to put in my two weeks at my current job. I know I shouldn't put in my two weeks until I have this job for sure but going on my third interview is it pretty much a sure thing? And how long does it take at Olive garden to start making decent money with paycheck and tips combined?

• Answer:

  Don't quit until you are sure you have the job! I assume you are applying for a serving position since you mentioned tips. I also worked for Olive Garden as a server about 10 years ago. I remember the training being a bit long ~ it included a day or two in the kitchen watching how to prepare some of the foods. Normally they will give you part of another server's tables to wait on with that server watching you. You do not normally get to keep those tips as they really belong to the other server. Once you get your own section upon completing your training, you can start making your own tips; however, the sections aren't very big ~ maybe two to three tables at the most until they are sure you can handle more. I would say depending on what shifts (day/night, weekend/weekday) you work you should be able to start making decent tips after one month or so. As far as your hourly rate is concerned ~ depending on what state you live in you could earn minimum wage even after training is over (such states as California) or in some states like out here on the east coast you will only make half-wage (1/2 of the minimum wage) once you are out of training and earning tips.
