How do you replace driver side window in 1987 trooper?

  • Answer:

to change a windowFirst remove the door cover on the inside (3 screws, plus the 3 screws for the speaker). Crank the window down. There is 2 screws holding the window to the assembly. Use a Phillips and unscrew the window from the assembly. Carefully push the window up on it's rail, pushing the rear higher (tilt the window at a 45 deg angle). The window should pop free of the rail, and the opening at the top is wide enough to remove it. To re-insert a window, slide it vertically, but with a 40/45 deg tilt. You should be able to put it back in the rail and slowly tilt it back to horizontal until it should slide freely in the rail. Make sur you hold it, and let the window go down to the window assembly. Screw it back, and voila!!! The first time it took me 2 hours... The second 10 minutes!
