What bars are best in centre city Philadelphia during the mid week?

  • I'm free on Wednesday night next for drinks in Philly but I'm not sure if it'll be completely dead. Can people give me some indication of what to expect in the city? We're just looking for normla pubs/bars and maybe nightclubs. I just don't want to be sitting in an empty bar at 11pm! Thanks all!

I guess you are just visiting? I am not big on the bar scene, but Center City always seems to be crowded and full of traffic and people walking on the streets. A big place on Wednesdays is Alfa, near Rittenhouse Square. I'd also recommend Tria, which is nearby and features fermented items: wine, beer, and cheese. They have a nice, upscale selection. For cheap drinks I always like Noche, which is no frills and has a pool table. I'd also recommend Monks, which has the best beer in the city, and Good Dog, which is right around the corner and was voted the city's best burger. Neither of these places is ever dead.
