Wher is the best Phily steak and cheese sub in Philadelphia?

Where is the best place to get a cheese steak in Philadelphia?

  • We are going to be making a trip over to the Zoo, trying to plan out the "maps" now. We've been to Philadelphia a few times now, but have never had a cheese steak from there. So ... where do you think they have the best cheese steaks?

  • Answer:

You have to make the trip to south street! Its a fun little place. Theres a Jim's on south st. as well. That would be my choice in Philly as of right now. I've had some hole in the wall steaks, Gino's and Jim's. I liked Jim's the best. Its right on South Street, its a big black tiled building on the corner. They have other locations as well. -add I haven't had Pat's yet. Theres a Pat's and a Gino's directly across from one another. I can't remember the street name. My buddy drove.

Hubby and I just visited Philly last month and most people said Pat's. They also told us: D'allesandro's (think that's how u spell it) Geno's Oh...and South Street is REALLY cool. Loved it.

You can do the "well known" places - Gino's and Pat's are both on Passyunk Ave across from each other. Jim's is on South Street, which is an event in and of itself after dark. Someone mentioned D'Allesandro's on Ridge Ave, but my favorite is across the street, Chubby's. Especially if you like Chicken Cheesesteaks as opposed to beef.

The general consensus is that there are two major competitors for this title. Ask any cab driver to take ya. Axe

Gino's is the stereotypical "best cheesesteak" in philly. Me and my family each got a cheesesteak from there and Pat's across the street. We all agreed that Pat's was the better cheesesteak, mostly because the way the meat was cut. It's thinner.
