ADDING to my earlier Magic Kingdom Orlando questions: BEST places to eat??
-
Sorry folks, I forgot to ask this earlier, I'm doing the dining deal thing with DW. WHERE are the best places to eat? Inside or outside of the parks Ideally, I would like a couple of places that are: Great for dinner, ie: surf & turf or steak houses. A couple of good breakfast places. A few "sit down" lunch places with more than chicken strips, hot dogs and hamburgers on the menu. Are there any places that I should go ahead and make reservations for now, so I don't miss out? I'm not too worried about "kid friendly" my 5 year old may not be an angel, but is very used to long dinners at "adult " restaurants. Once again, THANKS!!

I would definitely recommend making reservations before you get there. 407-WDW-DINE to do that :) If you are looking for a breakfast buffet, Cape May's at the Beach Club Resort is awesome, and has characters. Right next door, at the Yacht Club, is an awesome steakhouse called, appropriately, The Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Even better though, in my opinion, is Le Cellier, for a sit-down dinner, and I know for a fact it is included on the dining plan (used it on my honeymoon!). That is the full service restaurant at the Canada pavilion at Epcot. So delicious, and a gorgeous environment. A few sit down lunch places that I'd recommend are the Grand Floridian Cafe, Tony's Restaurant (Magic Kingdom), the San Angel Inn (Mexico, at Epcot). Also for lunch, the food court at the Land Pavilion at Epcot and the ABC Commissary at The Disney MGM Studios are great if you want to use your counter service meals for the day. Other quick breakfast places include the bakery on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, the Bakery on the Boardwalk (an Epcot resort), and Donald's Breakfastosaurus (okay, not quick, but a fun breakfast buffet that's actually inside Animal Kingdom).

There are tons of great places to eat at Disney, but one of my favorites has got to be the Concourse Steakhouse (at the Contemporary Resort). They serve steak (of course), ribs, and a lot more, all in a nice setting at the Contemporary resort (it isn't really fancy, although it may seem like it from the page, they have tons of things for kids). Its easy to get to it as you can take a monorail directly from Magic Kingdom. Another great place is Tony's Town Square restaurant, located right by the entrance of Magic Kingdom. They serve really good pasta and other italian dishes. All the resorts have their food courts which serve lots of good things for breakfast, which most people eat at. If you want something special, its generally going to be one of the more expensive character dining breakfasts. My favorite breakfast would have to be at Chef Mickey's, also located at the Contemporary Resort (its actually right next to the Concourse Steakhouse!). They serve a great breakfast and your favorite Disney characters visit your table while you eat :) One of my favorite lunch places is the 50's Prime-Time cafe at MGM studios. They serve comfort food like fried chicken, meatloaf, and more! The restaurant itself has a great theme and is a great place to have a good meal. There are lots of counter-service places to eat at the park, with all of them being pretty good. Just find one with food that you like, none of them are better than others (just your taste buds :P) The main places i'd be worried about making reservations for are the character dining places, which tend to be booked in ahead (especcially Chef Mickey's, its fairly hard to get into). Some of the more casual places like the 50's diner and Concourse steakhouse honestly aren't as big of a deal, but i'd at least try to book the restaurants from your hotel phone a day ahead.

I've been to Disney 4 times, and leave for my fifth tomorrow! Some of the best sitdown places in Magic Kingdom are: Tony's (Right when you walk in) ; Italian Crystal Palace; buffet and there's this place by the hall of presidents. forget what it's called. but the BEST sit down dinner place in Disney is located in the Wilderness Lodge Resort, called the Whispering Canyons. Very family oriented, and lots of fun. Definately a must do. Your five year old will have a BLAST

Another great restaurant near the MK is Artist Point inside The Wilderness Lodge Resort. Wonderful meals and a great wine list from California, Oregon and Washington. Also, any restaurant in The Grand Floridian is a winner. There is also a Japanese steakhouse in Epcot at the Japan pavilllion of course.

I have lived 40 minutes from Disney all my life! Always make reservations. The people you speak to on the phone (at reservations) can book you for any restuarant, anywhere on Disney property that takes reservations. If you visit The Land at Epcot, this is a "must eat here" type of place.

I went to the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom and it was good. Pecos Bills is really good for burgers...they have a fixins bar with pretty much anything you can imagine. Have fun on your trip!

I didn't notice if anyone suggested the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney. Your five year old will LOVE it!!!!! Look it up on the internet.

Good luck getting into Vicky & Al's, amazing but I wouldn't reccomend it for kids. I can't believe no one is reccomending the California Grill, you ned to make your reservations soon. Tip on dining at resort restauraunts go about 5 before the parks close, it's a little early but there are very few people there. Restauraunts outside the parks get slammed right about the time the parks close. You can probably figure out why.
