What is the best place in Manhattan for a mom to take her son on his 21st birthday?

My son and I will be in Manhattan for 3 days prior to a trip to Nairobi to build an orphanage. He will celebrate his 21st birthday on the last day we are in New York and I want it to be fun for him. He has never had a drink but certainly will want to embibe with one or two on his birthday. McSorely's was recommended, but are there other unique places it would be fun for a 50+ woman to take her son on his 21st birthday?

Houston's steakhouses around town. Nice family steakhouses where both a 21 year old and his mom will feel comfortable.

McSorley's is an awesome place for beer on tap, it's a great neighborhood bar. It might be something to stop in a check out. But for drinks and dinner for someone new to town, I'd suggest Havana Central in 46th Street near Times Square. It's a fun atmosphere, bright, nice music, good food and great drinks.

McSorely's is really good, but a nice place to take him would be Nice Guy Eddie's on 7th Avenue. It has a cajun/southwestern flair.
