How do you become a waitress in NYC?

• I have no experience as a waitress i only have experience in day cares and in an office as an office assistant, i am extremely interested in being a waitress but every time I apply somewhere they ask for experience...but you have to start somewhere!

  If you check the Help Wanted ads in New York Times, Village Voice, Craigslist, MySpace jobs, etc. they often post part-time job openings for wait staff. Some of them don't require experience because these job offers are for secondary staff as a support or back-up during the busy times. With any job the person doing the hiring is looking for people to be hard workers, professional, responsible, quick to learn and beneficial to the company. If you explain your past experience and your desire to become a good waitress in NYC then they may consider giving you a job where you often you shadow an experience member of the staff until you learn the ropes.
