What is the most romantic restaurant in New York city?

What is a good fine dining restaurant in New York City?

  • I have an anniversary coming up in september and I think I'm going to take her to New York and I live in Philadelphia. I was wondering if anyone knew of fine dining restaurant in New York. I saw reviews for Tavren on the Green is that good?

  • Answer:

No its a tourist trap. The best steakhouse in NYC is PeterLuger's, but its not in Manhattan, it's in Brooklyn. No credit cards, so bring plenty of money. In Manhattan, go to Ben Benson's. The best Italian I've tried is Patsy's. Happy Anniversary!

Le Bernadin or Daniel. Tavern on the Green is okay. It's a bit gauche and I found the food good, but average. You are paying for the name and like the other post said, it's a tourist trap. There are better restaurants out there. If you want romantic, Try One if By Land, Two if By Sea. It's an old carriage house in the village owned by Arron Burr I think. Excellent food and a place many people go to propose. Also look into Club 21. The wait staff are great (ask for Christopher - the waiter) and the second floor is cozy, romantic and the food is also excellent.

Tavern is for tourists. Try: More expensive with dress code- London New York Le Cirque Nobu Less expensive than above without dress code- La Guloue Savoy You can go to the individual sites to view the menus.

Le Bernardin is a very fine restaurant - be prepared to spend $$$$. I went there with my sister and we had the Tasting Menu (A set course of 5-6 mini courses + dessert) that was $160. That's not including the tax & tip (20%).,not to mention Parking. Try the link for parking below. Usually, if you park a few blocks away from 5th Avenue, the rates are cheaper. Print out your "reservation" parking & they will honor it - just present it first before you leave to the attendant. If you like a more casual but tasty restaurant, try Mark Joseph Steakhouse, 261 Water St (off Peck Slip). 212.277.0020. The owner was a bartender at Peter Luger's (famous, but very crowded) and his steaks are very good, but the seafood platter (for 2) is to die for. Otherwise, if you like to try romantic & French: - Le Grenouille, 3 E. 52nd St (5th & Madison) 212.752.1495 - Chanterelle, 2 Harrison St. (Hudson St.) 212.966.6960 For fresh fish: - Milo's, Estiatorio, 125 W. 55th St. (6th & 7th Ave) 212.245.7400 Try your luck.

With that occasion, I should think Four Season's or the Rainbow Room would be more appropriate.

Forget the Tavern. You can walk or drive thru Central Park. Or, you could eat at Jean George's located just across from Central Park at 1 Trump Plaza. Excellent food, $$$ but worth every bite and great ambiance and view. Or try his other restaurant, Jo-Jo, very romantic. Uptown on the east side. Or, try the Boat House at Central Park. Food is good but the view of the lake is great.
