What are some good hotels in Miramar?

How to find hotels around 50 dollars per night in NYC?

  • Hi all, How can I find hotels and make reservations for hotels at around 50 dollars per night that have an Internet service in NYC and hopefully within 40minutes commuting time to the Manhattan? The objective of staying hotels is to find a good summer housing around the Manhattan area. Let's say for the summer housing, I want it to be within 35 minutes of commuting time in radius using the Grand Central Station as the center of the circle. Thus to search for such housing, it's better for my temporary hotel to be somehow near to a place where summer housing is potentially abundant, and where it is easy for me to check out those houses which are close to the Manhattan area. How do I find such hotels for my initial stay in NYC which are affordable? I hope this hotel is located at a place where houses are abundant and it is easy for me to find the house... And the hotel will not be at the center of the Manhattan, because those hotels are a few hundred dollars a night... Thank you!

  • Answer:

You might check into dormitories or youth hostels. But that price with internet service? I doubt it. You might need to use a public library for the internet.

About the most reasonable part of the question is about the location of the public librairies in the city -- practically limitless- there are Dozens in Manhattan alone. As far as a cheap hotel, the suggestions given are good to check out but, you get what you pay for. And even if it is inexpensive, be mindful of the neighborhood before you put your head to rest.

Well two suggestions: you can get into a Youth Hostel (chelseacenterhostel.com) for $35.00 a night that is IN Manhattan, you can go to Craigslist.org and search 'New York for roommates wanted', and explain you are looking for temporary housing in an ad, and can pay what you said above, or respond to someone's ad and tell them about your situation.

Actually you can stay in the Upper Westside Y in NY,which I believe is cheap and very clean, It's at about 63rd Street off of Central Park West, and I'm not sure about the internet in the rooms, but I'm sure they have internet in the building. they did a recent update of the building, and they have a great pool. Also there is the Upper Eastside Y on 90th & lex, which is the biggest and best Y in the city, also with Pool and big gym. Also, internet in building. You won't find a cheap hotel in the city,so these are your best bets for staying inthe city. The Eastside Y is just a subway ride away from Grand Central. The Westside one is one bus, then switch buses, but it's the cost of one ride, as you get second ride in the cost of the first. As far as summer places, I haven't gotten a share in a long time, since I ended up with my husband, so that's about 23 years, since we did do one year of a share, and that was a disaster, in the Hamptons, very expensive!!!!!! You can also look for a cheaper hotel out in Queens or over in NJ. Try looking through Google and see what you find, you could put in hotels, by price range and see what comes up. I've tried doing that and also tried Expedia and a few of the other sites to look for cheap hotels. Ok, as to summer homes, not sure exactly what you are looking for. Do you want a share in a house, or do you want to rent a whole house. At the price you listed I don't know where you are going to find a house for yourself, it's really not a lot of money for something at the beach. Usually people in NY go to the Hamptons or Fire Island, but they take a share in a house. Think about that. Other than in the NY area there is the NJ shore, around Asbury Park, not Asbury Park as that is run down, but the towns around it. I have no idea of the costs of houses down in that area. There are also houses up around LakeHopatkong(sp). There are some on the lake and some not on the lake that would be cheaper,or around Sparta Lake, these are in northern New Jersey, Morris County I believe. Growing up it was a lovely area, and I think it still is. There are buses from there right into the city. You can get into the city from all the places I have mentioned. Stay away from Conn, it's too expensive and no really good places other than Kent that are really summer resorts. Kent is about 2 hours from NY,and is a charming town, better if you have a car,but can get there by bus, and also there is New Preston, near Kent,a bit smaller and I don't know if they have houses to rent. You could look in that area. Don't know much in Westchester, it's more of an area for people to live in the lower down area, and when you get up further can't think of any areas good for summer homes. Oh yes, another area you could look at would be the Catskills. You can get there by car or bus. There are a number of homes for rent, but you may need to go through a broker. Not sure about that. Look through Google for all of these areas and see what you find out. Also, one of the things you can do is get a copy of the New York Times just for some ideas. In the real estate section they list houses in all the summer resort places. Ok, they list mostly the expensive ones, but what they do is they list the brokers handle the areas. So, get the names of the brokers,go online and see what the brokers have one their sites. It will give you an idea if there are things in your price range. They usually have summer rentals listed at this time of year. Also, when you get to NY get a copy of the Village Voice,it's a free newspaper given away in some of the kiosks at corners of streets and it has always been a good place to find apartments and summer homes. Hope I've been of some help here. I know it's hard. Actually, I also hate to tell you this, but usually summer shares are booked up around February, so I hope you have some luck.
