What are some good restaurants in New York?

I need help finding the right restaurant in NYC ?

• My birthday is coming up, and I want to go out to a nice restaurant (cost is not a factor). One place that I was looking at was Uncle Jack's Steakhouse, but the only drawback is their business casual attire. I want to go to a nice place where I can wear a nice pair of flip flops and a nice pair of jeans with a white shirt with french cuffs and cuff links under an argyle-type sweater (whatever that would be categorized as). I also don't want Asian food, and would be in the mood for a steakhouse that is once again, a little more upscale. Thanks in advance, Graham.

  You're not going to find a traditional American steakhouse in Manhattan where flip flops are acceptable attire. Most of them require at least business casual. One place that you might like and might let you in with flip flops is Pataforma Charascurria. It's a Brazilian steakhouse, but they do have steak as well as countless other grilled meats. The premise is that you sit at your table with something the resembles a coaster that's red on one side and green on the other. The waitstaff comes around to each table with different grilled meats on very large skewers and if you want some, you ask for it. As long as your coaster is up on the green side, they will keep coming to you offering what they have. Turn it to red and they won't come. For $55.95 it's all you can eat for dinner and 35.95 for lunch and it's a lot of fun. They don't specify a dress code on their website so you may want to call ahead if this flip flop thing is a deal breaker (it's winter...you know that right?).
