Im leaving tomorow to New York and were going to be spending there a week. We're going to be there for christmas and its a lot of us. i would like to know some restaurants to go to around times square that are at a good budget for us. (its 9 of us) and if u could also tell us some tourist places to go other than central park, the statue of liberty, and rockerfeller center. thanks

Despite the last minute planning, I think that there should be openings at the popular restaurants. Don't get sucked into the Times Square tourist trap for food. Head west to the Theater District. There's better food, better deals and less crowded. If you're into museums, MoMA is a good one to check out. Guggenheim is also nice. I personally think the Met is way too big to enjoy, but that's for the museum enthusiast. My favorite is the Cooper-Hewitt design museum on the Upper East Side. To get a great view, opt to go to the Top of the Rock (instead of the Empire State Building). There's iceskating at Bryant Park and great shopping at the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. Walk by the New York City Library (40th and 5th Ave) on your way to the Chrysler Building. Check out the popular squares in the city such as Washington Square Park, Madison Square Park, or Union Square. They will be packed with students on break, skaters, and random (occasionally weird) people. Do NOT aim to go to Herald Square. It is a mess down there. I absolutely hate it. If you want shopping (ie Forever 21, Victoria's Secret, etc) try the Gramercy area (23rd & Fifth, walk down 5th towards Union Square). Some other interesting areas to check out: St. Mark's (8th St. in the east village) for random small shops and really REALLY good Japanese yakitori (grilled meat on a stick), Chinatown, Little Italy, and Nolita. Hope that helps and good luck!

Well, being a New Yorker and living in NYC, and being a person who loves rock, I woud suggest the Hard Rock Cafe as my top choice. If you want to dine in Soho or Little Italy, the best restaurants would be Broadway Gourmet, Piu Bello Gelato, Calexico Cart, and Epistrophy.

I dont live in NY, so I am not sure where this is in proximity to where you want to be at, but Burger Haven has freakin' amazing food, and reasonable prices. It is my all time fave!

You should have planned before your trip. Tables for 9 w/o reservations during the holidays is a tall task. Start here:http://www.nyc.com/restaurants/ Then use yelp.com for those which you think sound good.
