Where can I find smoking permitted bars in Los Angeles area?
-
I just moved to L.A. a month ago and i was wondering where i could find a dive bar where you are still allowed to smoke either inside or patio. ONLY dive bars please! i'm not interested in spending a fortune at some trendy spot.

Answer:
Though smoking in bars in GENERALLY illegal, places that are owner operated are still allowed to have smoking. Depending on the bartender, you can try: Dave's Bar Broadway, just east of Glendale Ave. Glendale The Blue Room San Fernando Rd. just north of Alameda Burbank (Haven't been there in a while and Burbank has this whole public smoking ban and all....still worth a try.) The Big Fish San Fernando Rd. at Wilson Glendale (smoking right outside the back door) Tiki Ti Sunset northwest of Fountain, accross from Ciruit City Hollywood (nevermind, probably too trendy) Capri Room Pacific about a block north of Glenoaks Glendale Have fun!!!!!

Nowhere :( The state of California has a no-smoking ban on all bars and restaurants. A lot of places won't even let you smoke on the patios! Wish I could help you, but there really isn't any place. Try to find a bar near you with a patio.

Smoking in bars is illegal in Los Angeles, therefore look for places that are "private clubs" or places that have an outdoor patio (um, not many dive bars have these) but check the general Echo Park/Silverlake/East Hollywood area for a dive with a patio. You don't seem like the karaoke type but some karaoke bars are private clubs that allow smoking. Investigate Koreatown.

Try Ye Rustic Inn on Hillhurst in Los Feliz. You can't smoke inside, but they have a side patio where you can sit and drink and smoke. Very divey. It's located in a strip mall. Or, try Red Lion on Glendale Blvd. in Silverlake. A german pub with big outdoor seating area where you can eat, drink and smoke. There is ONE place i know of where you can actually smoke inside (why, i don't know...). It's in Playa del Rey. I have no idea what it is called, but it is a TINY dark smoky bar attached to a restaurant called Cantalini's Salerno Beach. It's on Culver Blvd. A few oddballs are always in there....(ie, old drunk ladies).
