Good places to go shopping in Los Angeles?

  • Ok my mom is taking me to Los Angeles to see one of the Taylor Swift concerts for my birthday. Since we are going to be there I'd really love to go shopping [I live in Montana, crappiest shopping state in the U.S.A so don't blame me for wanting to shop]. I'd like some suggestions on places to shop! I don't want a list of those expensive places like Gucchi and all that crap because there's no way I can afford any of that. I'd like fun shopping streets, malls, shops that have cute clothes but also aren't very expensive! Please help me out here =] Thank you by the way

    What I would suggest first is to visit one or more of the outlet malls. Most of them are way in the outskirts but two that are somewhat nearby the center of town are The Citadel off the I-5 freeway in the City of Commerce, The Block in the city of Orange. The nearest after that is the Ontario Mills Outlet in Ontario which is huge but is quite a drive out and it can get hot out there. . Next (for clothing), there is a garment district in downtown LA. For the more regular and a bit higher priced stuff, shop along Melrose avenue for some of the more eclectic stuff. After that, just about any mall, there are dozens of them. One that is very nice is also near the Ontario Mills called Victoria Garden (outdoor mall). z

Melrose Avenue has tons of great vintage, and boho style shops. Its a long street going all the way to Santa Monica. You can get more information by googling Melrose Avenue.

Venice Beach boardwalk is good for boho. Another nice place is The Grove in Hollywood. It's really nice, though some of the stores are a bit pricey.

I'm from Nebraska but live in LA now so I know the desire to shop at someplace good! :-) A couple places you might like... First, there's actually affordable shopping on the Venice Beach boardwalk and that's where you find all the cute bohemian clothes and vintage style stuff. It's a line of shops about six blocks long. I suggest you go there. Plus Venice Beach is just a lot of fun with all the street performers and food stands and stuff. If you want slightly higher end shopping, try Melrose which also has a ton of vintage boutique shops but is somewhat overpriced in my opinion. Or go to the Grove (on Third and Fairfax) or the Beverly Center which is an indoor mall and has a nice selection of stores like Betsy Johnson and designer's stores along with Macy's, etc. I think Venice Beach is the place you want to go though because they truly have the best deals and the kind of style you like. http://www.venicebeach.com/ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b0/Venice_Beach_promenade.JPG
