    Not sure you will call the price of this reasonable but at the Crystal Cathedral, they have The Glory of Christmas which tells the story of the birth of Christ. If you want to get into the spirit, this is a good way. In Newport Beach they dress the boats up in lights and travel the area. During October, the Union Oil company paints one of their storage tanks as the giant pumpkin, visible while going south on the Harbor fwy. During the Christmas season, they paint it as Santa's head. It's cute but it only takes a few minutes to see everything you want to. z

My favorite is the Department of Water & Power display at Griffith Park. It's free. I think the dates are Friday after thanksgiving - New Years weekend (but obviously, you need to check). I also think it's open until midnight but that may only be on the weekends. You can drive (sometime the wait can be 1hr+ to get through) or park your car at the zoo and take a free shuttle bus or walk. I like to walk.

There is a Christmas boat parade in Marina del Rey in December. The Grove is also really cool on the night they light up the huge tree.
