Can someone recommend a good, romantic restaurant for Valentine's Day?
-
I moved to the Denver area fairly recently. My girlfriend is flying in for Valentines and I need to find a nice, romantic restaurant. I'd like to find a place that's private, has a nice wine selection, and is not a chain restaurant (e.g., Maggiano's). The areas of town that would be best are: Downtown, Cherry Creek, DTC, Centennial, Greenwood Village.

Is budget an issue? I'm going to hope not. These places aren't outrageous but are not inexpensive. Steakhouse 10 in Englewood (make a reservation yesterday) Cool River Cafe in DTC 9 Doors downtown (Tapas) Assignments is the restaurant of the culinary school, in Denver but outside of downtown. It's very intimate, all students cooking and serving but they do a very nice job and its a unique experience. Someone suggested the Fort and that is an excellent suggestion. If price and distance are no object, Flagstaff House in Boulder The Briarwood Inn in Golden is excellent too. I suggest you join opentable.com. It's free and its an online reservation service. You can search for restaurants by area, price, cuisine, etc. You collect points for coupons. I've been using it for years and it's a great resource for frequent diners.

Venice Restaurant and Wine Bar on Wynkoop, near the train station, would be a nice choice. The Elway's at the new Ritz Carlton (and you can get a room!)

Try and get those reservations quick! May already be too late. Quiet and romantic with tables in little alcoves: Highlands Garden Cafe - its over in Highlands neighborhood but not too far from Downtown. Amazing food, good wine selection. http://www.highlandsgardencafe.com/ Le Central is fun and funky and not too expensive. French bistro in Denver. http://www.lecentral.com Mel's Bar and Grill - great food and exceptional wine list in Cherry Creek neighborhood http://melsbarandgrill.com San Lorenzo Ristorante in Greenwood Village Romantic Italian with good wine list. Their Website is broken, but here is a menu. www.usmenuguide.com/sanlorenzorestaura… My favorite romantic really Colorado restaurant with WOW factor is the Fort Restaurant in Morrison. Not in your geographic area but the views alone are worth the trip and the menu is full of items you won't find other places. Also extensive wine list and quiet romantic atmosphere. http://www.thefort.com/
