What are the reasons why a restaurant wouldn't offer a big Mothers day brunch menu on Mothers Day?

So today we are going to this great place that has a delicious menu for Mothers day. Stuff like Champagne, smoked salmon and capers, fresh variety of cheeses, prime rib of beef, desserts, shrimp, and fresh turkey just to name a few things they are having. I see that there are restaurants out there that do not offer this type of brunch for Mothers day. They offer just a regular breakfast menu that they have every week. Why would they not make the effort to have all these good things that I have listed on their menu for Mothers Day?

Being someone who has worked in restaurants for a long time, it is difficult to deal with two different menus at one time. There's planning the menu, buying the ingredients, prepping the ingredients, teaching the staff what you what done, getting the waitstaff up to speed, keying those items into the computer, and then dealing with the leftovers. Plus, you have to find space the store all these items before, during, and after. And if you don't have extra people, it might not be so cost effective. Given the economy these days, many restaurants really have to keep an eye on the bottom line.

Because not everyone WANTS that sort of brunch! We go to a place where we order our preferred dishes, and get HOT, FRESH foods, rather than foods that have been sitting out on a buffet for time...We prefer it that way. It's a little place, and if they were to put up a buffet, they wouldn't have room for more than about five tables.

People also hang around longer for a buffet type meal. On a special day where many eat out, it's important to the restaurant to turn over the tables pretty quickly.

While it may seem the restaurants are not honoring mothers, the truth is, Mother's day is one of THE biggest days to go out to eat, if not the biggest. Therefore, there isn't much of a need to do anything special when people will pack the place whether they do something a little different or not.
