How do I become a bartender in Boston?
-
I am a grad student and I would like to work as part-time bartender to cover my living expenses... I worked as a barista in college, but I don't have any bartendering experience... I don't mind starting by doing something else - barback, server.. But how do I get the job? My resume is all businessy - marketing work and degrees... So how do I approach the job search? Which bars/restaurants would consider hiring someone like me?

You become a bar-tender by attending bar tending trade schools also known as mixology. Look in the yellow pages of the trade schools in any local phone book and check out bar-tending. Major schools are listed esp. in high resort areas. ( I know of 2 major chains but can't list them ) Just look under trade schools in your phone book for bar-tending and you will see. You do not need any prior experience & school is very affordable work at your own pace flexible hrs for school to get your mixology certificate.
