Why won't my computer recognize my bamboo fun tablet?

Bamboo Fun Tablet Questions?

  • I'm planning on getting the Bamboo Fun tablet later on this year, and I have quite a few questions about it. Is the Photoshop/Corell element easy to use? I have never used a tablet before but I am a fairly competent pencil artist, would I be able to handle it? I know alot about computer programs, but not about Peripherals such as this. Thank you.

Well, young Jake, I got my first pen/tablet duo when I was 60 years old and after a few days of playing Solitaire with it to get used to how it works, I've done OK with it. (Well, I didn't "get" the Wacom when I was 60. I finally installed it when I was 60. I'd bought it the year before and, because I didn't know anything about them, I put it aside until I was brave enough to take it out of the box and use it. By then, my XP computer had gone belly up and I'd bought a Vista machine so the first thing the instructions said to do was to go to the Wacom website and download a new driver - YIKES! And do you know what??? It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Everything worked out fine. I even set up the tablet properties via the Wacom icon in Control Panel all by myself and everything still worked;-) I like to do cartoons and a bit of painting and it's worked great. There's an adjustment period when your eyeballs want to look at the tablet instead of the screen, but eyeballs don't have brains of their own and are easily trained;-) I can't live without my little tablet now. Re the Photoshop Elements and Painter Essentials: There's a learning curve but there's also some tutorial help and lots of information on the web and lots of books about Elements. There's not as much info about Painter Essentials but there's Essentials Cafe which is manned by Painter experts from Corel. http://essentialscafe.com/ This site has some useful info on using tablets: http://www.the-graphics-tablet.com/index.html Over in the left margin, under Tablet Information, click on Bamboo and scroll to the bottom of the page that pops up for instructions on setting up the tablet. Don't do like I did and wait to use the tablet. Just jump right in and, after a short period of adjustment time, you'll wonder how you ever drew a line without it.
