How to get sound from a laptop to a TV when a VGA cable is in use...?

  • I have connected my computer to my TV with a VGA cable [no hdmi port] but there is no sound can anyone tell me if there is a wire that can give me sound while the VGA cable is in use or if you can attach something to the computer that will create a hdmi port. thanks

    Important, one of the answer says "you will need the VGA to HDMI cable". These vga to hdmi cables works if your vga card has an option to send vga signal as "" DIGITAL "" ! Not all of the vga cards support this type of digital output, you should check this support from your laptops spec. So, in your case you have some reasonable options in my experiences. 1. use an extra streo audio cable from the your pc to your TV. 2. you can use a new vga to cat5 converter (that comes with video+audio+remote control+rs232 support) 3. buy vga to hdmi converter. If your distance is not too long then go to streo cable solution, but if you think compact solution then I recommend you to go with "vga to cat5" solution.
