Why wont my dvd+r work on my computer?

Can a dvdr disk that has a movie on it be played on a dvd-rom player?

  • someone is burning me a movie off their computer and they're burning it onto a DVDR disk...and my computer plays DVD-ROM's. will i be able to play the movie on my computer? and will it work on any regular DVD player, too?

  • Answer:

If he/she is doing a disc to disc copy it should play with virtually no problem. If not then it depends how they burn it...is it a dvd + or - r. What format did they burn the movie onto the dvdr with. In short it just depends how they save it on the the disc. Most likely on your pc it will play fine...maybe just have to download a codec depending. On regular dvd players depends if on your pc it opens with your dvd playing software. If it does then it should work fine in most newer dvd players. Older ones are a toss up.
