Is there a Rca to VGA cord?

VGA and RCA on two separate channels how do i get sound and video on the same channel for my laptop to my tv?

  • Im hooking up my laptop to my tv via VGA cable, and i just found out that i needed a cord that runs from my headphone jack to my RCA hookup so i went out and bought one. Now that i have it hooked up to my computer i cannot seem to get the video and sound on the same channel setting, since i have multiple settings. The video shows up on my VGA setting, and the audio plays through the AV setting, so how do i get them both to work at the same time (i.e. sound on the VGA channel, or Video through the RCA channel)

  • Answer:

Your TVs VGA port should have also a dedicated audio port associated with it. Some TVs use a PC-like port (3.5 mm), other TVs use RCA. You need to connect the audio from the PC to the audio port associated with the VGA port. - see your TV manual for more info. If your TV uses a PC-like port, you will need a cheap 3.5 mm to RCA adaptor ( Check Radio shack).
