How do I get around the problem of having to move HD lead from Sky box to Blu ray DVD player?

I have a Samsung 40" from about 3/4 years ago and it only has 1 HD lead socket. So if I want to watch a DVD I have to unplug HD lead from back of Sky box and put into Bluray player which is a bit of a mare. I went into TV shop they said HD splitter plugs are useless and suggested something but I forgot what it was, an amp or tuner or something.

I can see that would be irritating right enough. Buying a Home theatre amp would solve the problem as long as it had plenty of HDMI inputs but I would seriously spend £3-4 on a splitter lead and see how it performed. A good AMP is gonna cost hundreds :-(
