How do you get Google Maps on the iPod Touch?

Laptop or iPod Touch?

  • The new iPod touch came out last month and I'm trying to decide if I want to buy that, or a new laptop. I've never had an iPod touch, or anything with a touch screen, nor have I ever had a laptop either. I'm interested in an iPod because I don't want an iPhone, I'm happy with my phone, and I like all the cool apps you can get for iPods, (Facetime, Google Maps, etc....) as well as the fact that it's pocket-sized. (Much more compact than a laptop.) The iPad just seems like a big iPod without the full functionality of a laptop. On the other hand, I'm debating about spending $300-400 more and just getting a laptop. My desktop at home is old, although it does everything I need it to. I guess it would just be nice to have a better computer (better video card for gaming, more than 2GB RAM, faster processor than a Pentium 4, ability to watch HD videos on youtube, etc....) So which device, iPod Touch or laptop, would be the most beneficial considering I don't really need either of them? What about the long term cost of each? Maintenance? Most comments are appreciated :)

I recently had to make that decision as well. Depends what your preferences are. If you are usually a person who goes out and needs something to amuse yourself with or you want something easy to carry and to just have there with you then get the iPod. If you are given the choice though, to get a laptop you might as well go for that one instead because you get a lot with that. Plus, you can also take that to places with you with just an additional purchase of a case. Also, you can get more options of use such as photo booth, imovie, etc (suggesting you are going to get a mac or something similar). This is an extremely hard decision. You know yourself more than we all do and if your someone who goes to for example, friends houses or you jog, or who knows, then most likely the iPod would be great for you. Even if you do go out a lot you can take your laptop with you. It also is a better item to function many uses, but the 2 downers is the size and you are not really able to use the apps (gaming, etc) but you can connect gaming and such to your computer for better visual access. I personally would say..... iPod if your a going out person and a laptop for someone who needs the access to a lot of applications. GOOD LUCK!! and you probably are looking for a basic overview on what you should get: LAPTOP!!!!

Coming from somebody who has had 4 iPod Touches and only 1 laptop, my answer would have to be laptop. i mean iPod touches are cool and all but if you use enough apps the battery will last no more than 3 hours.

deffinatly get a laptop. the apps get old on an ipod touch and youll get bored pretty quickly. but... theres millions of things to do on the internet :)

LAPTOP

LalaaLa !

Since you, as you said, already have a computer, you should get the ipod touch. It, first of all, goes onto the internet anyway. You can watch Youtube videos on the ipod (built in app). It takes HD video. Plus, the coolest apps! Fruit Ninja, Angry birds, Color Splash, Viddy, Pocket God, Help, Doodle Jump, Cut the rope, and Text Free are super cool and inexpensive or have free versions. Plus, a laptop costs way more and many are cheap, having bought many from several different companies and having the screens crack/break in under 2 years on all of them, longest being a NetBook that survived 16 months. The ipod touch is all around better. Bottom Line, my choice: ipod touch.
