The problem is the dvd to vcr. If you had vcr to dvd it should work. What you are seeing is the LOCK that is in DVDs that cancel the record function. In other words, IF you were trying to record the dvd, then this would stop your recording. Kind of like a security function. Because you are PLAYING the dvd, the vcr continues playing, but you get the blue screen (lock). The lock is in the Picture not the sound so you hear it playing. I had a disc that I tried to copy that had the lock in the intro. so while the names were on the screen (actors) it would stop. But when I let the name finish (by hitting pause on the recorder) it recorded. But it stopped 3 times before the end of the movie. If you take a look at a disc, you will notice movies are in files about a gig each. but the intro may be in 2 - 3 -4 -5 files in the beginning with the ending in a small file. Each time these files changed, the recording would stop. So your problem is MAYBE that. One thing I would like to know, does it go blue at the same time/place in the movie. If it does this is the problem. Another check is to hook the dvd to the tv and see if it stops or goes blue at the same place....if it does, maybe it's the disc. Either way, you should have the vcr go to the dvd and the dvd to the tv. That should stop the blue screen If you need another hookup, get a 3-way splitter (vcr & dvd out to splitter in and splitter out to tv in) Only about 2-3 dollars at Wal-Mart
