How to upload iPad 2 photos to my laptop?

I have tried all of the troubleshooting from the apple website, but no matter what I do, the "auto play" or folder does not show up when I connect my iPad 2 to my laptop. I am running windows 7 on an acer laptop, and I really need help, because I have over 800 photos! And this option has never shown up even from the beginning. Also, i have an iPad nano, 5th gen, which has never had this problem.

If you're having problems connecting the iPad the the computer, try emailing all the photos to yourself, then download them all from your email on the computer. When you're in photos, click on that box with the arrow thing in bottom left corner, then you can multiple select all your photos. Then press share>email.
