Can my macbook pro use/play unencrypted QAM or ATSC?
-
Earlier I posted a question about the ability to use my Macbook pro as a TV monitor used to play my PS3. One very helpful person stated: "If you are fine with SD, or can get unencrypted QAM or ATSC, just get a tuner capture card." I have no understanding of these terms maybe someone here could explain in lamens terms, I would gladly appreciate it. Happy Holidays

Answer:
QAM is the digital system used by cable television systems ATSC is the digital system used by broadcast television. most digital TV tuners, including computer tuner cards can receive these types of RF television signals. a PS3 doesn't output either one.
