How do I get my dvd to show on my tv?

• I just bought an RCA RCR815N remote for my tv, dvd and vcr. I've successfully programmed them all to work the devices, however I can't get my dvd to show on my tv while it plays. I click on the vcr button and then hit "input", but it just toggles between a blue screen and the tv cable programming. I'm guessing the blue screen should be the dvd.. what else should I do? If I press any other device (tv, satellite or dvd) and press "input", nothing happens. :(

  I suspect your TV is a newer model which has an assortment of AV connections. You connect each device to a different AV connection then you have to use your TV's remote to switch to the appropriate TV input. The RCA RCR815N is a "learning remote". That means you have to use the original equipment remotes to point at this remote to "teach" it. You've not told us the steps you went through to program this remote or even why you bought this (since you have to have the OEM remotes to teach it) or to what inputs you have your devices connected. You have told us you "I've successfully programmed them" but you have also told us you are trying to connect both your DVD and VCR to your TV. That is two different inputs and if you successfully programmed and connected everything correctly, when you toggle the TV's input, you would be toggling between two different inputs plus your cable input. You tell me you are just cycling between one input and cable, so it is clear to me that you have not finished programming things or you have not done it correctly. This is really very easy to do but you have to think logically about what you are doing and what is happening. I suspect you have to set the learning remote to an input such as DVD, then you use the TVs remote to switch to that input to "teach" your remote. Then you repeat those base steps while switching your remote to a different input position.
