What does an Ethernet channel mean in an HDMI cable?
-
I have an 8ft hdmi cable made by OmniMount or something. It has a 10.2gb/s and an ethernet channel. I also have a PS3 that I would like to use to hook up to my Sony tv. Does the 10.2gb/s mean higher graphics performance? Does the Ethernet channel mean I don't need the Ethernet cable anymore? Obviously my router doesn't have an HDMI port.

Answer:
Credit by source HDMI Ethernet Channel technology consolidates video, audio, and data streams into a single HDMI cable, combining the unmatched signal quality and convenience of HDMI connectivity with the power and flexibility of home entertainment networking. It incorporates a dedicated data channel into the HDMI link, enabling high-speed, bi-directional networking at up to 100 Mb/sec. ---- I believe higher is better in speed quality btw
