    The Samsung is the better name. But ... I take it your referring to a combo unit with VCR? Combo's are problematic and low quality. It's easy to use your existing VCR(Those red,white and yellow cables out the "VCR OUT" and into the DVD recorders' inputs. You get the best quality playback if you use the same VCR with which you made the recordings. Another benefit: the DVD recorder will likely be better. Other good brands are: Pioneer Panasonic Tip: With the $ you save, think about a Hard Drive(HDD) unit. Great for editing and making custom DVD's
