How do I use my monitor's speakers?

Can you use PA speakers as floor monitors, for a live sound, connected to a mixer?

  • okay, i have 2 Tapco 6925 Dual 15" Two Way Passive Cabinet (single) speakers, 1 works and the other the horn (tweeter) pop'd, now i play in a Church, but i don't have floor monitors to listen to our selves singing or playing and its really fustrating, my question is? can i use the tapco speaker as a monitor? AND can it work? with using 1 speaker only, cuz the other horn (tweeter) is pop'd, CAn someone who has experience in using live PA sounds and Mixers Please help me with this question??? I will Apreciated so much, thank you.

  • Answer:

You can do it if you have a POWERED mixer - you cannot do it if you have a normal mixer. Powered mixers have an amp or amps built in so you can connect speakers directly to it. If you have a normal mixer, you will need an additional power amp. You can use those speakers as floor monitors but they are very big. If you lay it on it's side, the speaker will need to be propped up on something so that it is facing you.
