Links to good audio equipment, suitable for event singer?

For my performing arts portfolio, I have to plan my first year in the industry we;ve chosen, I have chosen singer. I have to plan finance etc so am looking for some low cost audio equipment which an event singer would need- e.g. mic, amp... I will be on a low budget so I don't want the most high tech stuff. Please can you post links of the equipment...I'm no good at all with technology and dont have a clue how much any of this is actually worth but have to be as realistic as possible Thank you

If the singer needs just a single microphone and maybe a connection for music to sing with, you can buy a simple "powered speaker": http://www.allansbillyhyde.com.au/prod/LEXION12P/Legacy_XION_Series_12_Active_Speaker.aspx You will also need a mic, mic stand, mic cable and speaker stand.
